St. Martha's Guild
Cordially invites you to join us in our work for Ascension. We help financially support Seminary Students and respond to the Pastor's biding when called upon.
Martha means, “Lady of the house.” The Biblical Martha was a doer, a capable young woman who organized and ran a fairly large household. Like Martha, the St. Martha's Guild ladies host many wonderful events here at Ascension, such as the Annual Shrove Tuesday Pancake Supper and Ascension Day Confirmation reception. Every other year we host the Women of the Bible Tea and Program.
We meet at 7:30 pm in the Guild room the first Monday of each month September through June. We hope you will join us!
We're just not your Grandmother's group!
Friends of Music at The Church of the Ascension
Music is an integral part of the worship services at Ascension. Support of fine church music is essential to help us preserve our brilliant treasury of sacred music for the elevation of the soul to God. Your gifts and memorials will benefit the Music Program in general, or you may designate any specific use for your donation, such as the organ fund, the Evensong Concert Series or guest musicians.
All contributions are welcomed and most gratefully received.
For more information about ways to become involved in the Friends of Music at The Church of the Ascension, contact our Choir Director, Dr. David Kreider at 410-848-1978 or email him at david.kreider@gmail.com .
The Altar Guild members are charged with the care of the church buildings, and decoration of the church and preparation of the altar for all worship and special services. Members care for the altar linens and vestments, communion elements and vessels, and work with weddings. They also care for the altar for the Children's Chapel. Teams of two or three serve for one month each quarter. For information on joining the Altar Guild, contact the Parish Office.
Outreach Commissions
The people of Ascension believe in meaningful outreach as part of Parish Life. We understand outreach not as something we do, but as part of who we are, as Christians.

If you are interested in being part of any of these activities please contact the Parish Office.
Ushers/Greeters serve the Parish by helping to introduce visitors to Ascension. Ushers make visitors feel welcome and comfortable enough to return and become members of our Parish. Many couples enjoy ushering together, and there are many teams of friends. Ushering is conducted at both the Chapel and the Brick Church. Ushering is a great way to get to meet fellow parishioners, so if you are interested in becoming an usher, please contact the Parish Office.
The Parish Youth Group meets periodically and is very active with projects, both beneficial to the community, and simply for having fun and fellowship. They have raised money to support the Heifer Project which provides livestock to help feed the people of under-developed countries. They participate by serving at the Annapolis Police Thanksgiving Dinner for those less fortunate. They help in Parish projects to clean up the Church, yards and cemeteries, and recently they helped in the beautification of Westminster by landscaping at the Country Market. They also have fun events such as: skiing, tubing, trips to amusement parks, bowling, going to the movies, and sailing. Other events have included hayrides and field trips to NASA and the International Spy Museum .
