Heart in Hand Ministry

This ministry provides hand made items to those in need; in the parish, community, nation, and throughout the world as a gesture of love and caring that Christ has shown us to be the truth and the way. (Matthew 25:40) We work on our projects in our homes and gather periodically as needed to share ideas and raw materials, and new patterns and ideas.

Over the past year we have given out prayer shawls to our own parishioners, and also to friends and extended family. The reasons are numerous; death, cancer, new birth, wedding, etc. We have a relationship with Carroll Hospice at Dove House donating our prayer shawls to their ministry.

We also make preemie caps and baby sacs (nightgowns) for the birthing kits that are sent to Ghana, West Africa for the mid-wife courses being taught there by Ghanaian Mother's Hope, Inc., a non-profit organization directed by one of our parishioners.

Another project is the "Guardian Angels" for John Hopkins Maternity/Neonatal ICU ward. They are a flannel triangle that the mothers hold or place on their chest while in labor to pick up their scent. The Angel is then placed with the newborn to comfort them.
